Onion Creek Kennels' Obedience II: Proficiency and Canine Good Citizen Training Class objective is to continue progress on foundation skills learned in our Obedience I: Foundations class. Beginner exercises are polished and new exercises including stand for exam, figure8, long sit and long down with the handler across the training area and a distance recall will be introduced. Teams will also begin off-lead work. Emphasis in all exercises will be placed on developing positive teamwork between the dog and handler. Proofing of all exercises is done to teach the dog to respond correctly regardless of what is going on around him/her. This class may be repeated until the dog/handler team reach their goals. This class will also help prepare you for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification test, a widely-recognized high standard of polite behavior. CGC Certification is excellent preparation for therapy dog training.
Class is held outdoors on the Onion Creek Kennels Training Academy Field, which provides students ample training space on tight grass turf with stadium lighting. Indoor space is available during inclement weather.
To be eligible to attend this class, Dogs must be human and dog friendly. Dogs must have completed Obedience I: Foundations class or be Instructor approved.
